German Presidency of the Eu: The Finance Agenda
Since the coronavirus crisis plunged the EU into an unprecedented public health and economic crisis, senior EU policymakers’ priorities have since shifted to focus on mitigating the economic impact of the crisis. The key agenda item at the beginning of the German Presidency will, therefore, be discussing the two big financial packages for the Recovery plan for Europe: Next Generation EU and the Multiannual Financial Framework (MFF).
GERMAN PRESIDENCY OF THE EU: THE ENERGY AGENDA
Despite COVID-19 leading to a reprioritisation across the board, the EU Green Deal currently remains a core element of the recovery package proposed by the EU. As such, the German Presidency looks likely to continue pushing for the energy transition, though perhaps less than would have been expected.
