The communications agency Edelman.ergo is supplementing its management team to include two new top-class additions, thereby consistently continuing to extend its extensive range of services. Dr Sebastian Schwark (43) will be Managing Director Corporate Affairs as of 1 March. Britta Heer (50) will assume the position of Managing Director Brand Marketing on the same date.

Dr. Sebastian Schwark: Expert in political communication

Dr Sebastian Schwark, previously head of the Portland Communications office in New York, is an expert in political communication. He avails of extensive national and international experience in stakeholder relations, issues management and crisis communication, particularly in highly-regulated industries such as energy, chemicals and financial services, but also for international organisations and foundations. In his career of almost twenty years, Dr Schwark has advised Vestas, Chevron, Statoil, Vattenfall, the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA), Aviva, McKinsey, the UN Population Fund (UNFPA), the Carnegie Corporation of New York, the Qatar Foundation and the King Abdullah Foundation.

Following posts at Scholz & Friends Agenda (Berlin) and Deekling Arndt Advisors (Düsseldorf and Munich), Dr Schwark initially worked for Hill+Knowlton Strategies as a Director in Berlin and later as Senior Vice President in New York. In 2015, he acquired the New York office of Portland Communications, a global boutique agency specialising in reputation management. Dr Schwark researched at Columbia University in New York and worked as a Fellow of the German Marshall Fund of the United States in the US Senate in Washington, DC.

As an internationally experienced expert in political communication, Sebastian rounds off the management team in our 100-man Corporate Reputation Practice which is overseen by Andreas Martin. Based in Berlin, he will be primarily responsible for the area of Corporate Affairs. Furthermore, Sebastian will also be extending the activities of Edelman.ergo for family companies and foundations, including in an international context, claims Susanne Marell, CEO Edelman.ergo.

Hans Ulrich Helzer, to date responsible for the Corporate Affairs office in Berlin, will be concentrating on complex consulting projects in his capacity as Senior Partner. 

Britta Heer: Expert in integrated marketing

Britta Heer, to date Managing Director responsible for the Hamburg office of the British communications agency Lewis, is returning to Edelman.ergo. As Managing Director Brand Marketing, she will support senior management of the integrated Brand Marketing & Digital Practice headed by Dr Andreas Kloevekorn (Managing Director Digital) and Manuel Frank (Managing Director Creative), and manage the Edelman.ergo branch in Hamburg.

For her new task, Heer avails of extensive know-how in integrated communication, especially in strategic PR and marketing: her career began in the mid-90s as a PR consultant in the MasterMedia and Faktor 3 PR agencies, among others. From 2003 to 2010, Britta Heer was in charge of marketing at Books on Demand, a self-publisher for authors and publishing houses. She joined Edelman Deutschland as Head of Digital in 2011 where she proceeded to assume management of Digital and Social Media as well as the cross-agency Digital Advisor Team. From 2015 to 2016, she was Chief Digital Officer and Managing Director Digital and Innovation at achtung! Communication agency before moving to Lewis Communications in 2016 where she developed the Hamburg branch and the area of Brand Marketing.
