Ever since the fusion of Edelman and ergo Kommunikation, Andrea Hamacher has been Managing Director Operations on the expanded board at Edelman Germany. Together with her colleague Martina Pennekamp, she manages the integration of all systems, processes, and structures of the two agencies.
Weighing details against the bigger picture, inserting structure into chaos, and keeping one's cool whatever the circumstances - all essential skills for guiding clients through exceptional situations like flotations or M&A transactions. They are also highly valuable assets when tasked with the integration of two very different agencies. Andrea Hamacher studied macroeconomics at the University of Hamburg. After her studies, she worked for the Chambers of Industry and Commerce in both Stade and Cologne, where she provided consulting for companies on topics related to foreign trade, transportation, and ICT. As a personal assistant to the managing director, she headed the service center at the Chamber of Industry and Commerce in Cologne, and provided support to the plenary assembly and executive committee as well as various additional committees. In 2000, she became a senior consultant at ergo Kommunikation in Cologne, where she headed a 15-member team. Five years later she became a partner and member of the board. Her main focus up through 2008 was consulting companies and institutions on communication strategy, M&A communication, and investor relations. She subsequently turned her attention to the topic of operations and directed HR, Organization, and IT, as COO in the rapidly growing agency.
